From an Idea to a Wearable Design
Every Sphere design begins with an idea. Inspiration may come from a natural shape, a colour combination, a pattern or the way different materials sit together. Before any clay is cut, the overall shape, scale and movement of the finished earrings are considered. This helps each design feel balanced and comfortable rather than decorative for its own sake.
Preparing and Shaping the Clay
Professional artist polymer clay is conditioned until it reaches the right consistency. Colours may be used individually or combined to create soft blends, marbled effects and detailed patterns. The clay is rolled to an even thickness before each component is carefully cut or shaped. Small details matter at this stage because they influence how the finished pieces align and hang.
Baking, Cooling and Refining
Once shaped, the clay components are baked carefully and allowed to cool fully. The edges are then sanded and refined by hand. This stage removes roughness, improves the outline and gives each component a cleaner, more considered finish. Depending on the design, the surface may also receive additional detailing or a protective finish.
Adding Findings and Embellishments
After the clay pieces are prepared, holes are drilled and the components are assembled. Selected designs may include 18ct gold-plated findings, 24ct gold embellishments, freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones, crystals or carefully chosen beads. Each element is selected to complement the colour, shape and proportion of the design.
Quality Checking and Packaging
Every finished piece is checked before it is packed. The findings, connections, surface finish and overall balance are reviewed so that the jewellery is ready to wear and enjoy. The order is then prepared with care in Sphere’s branded packaging. Because each piece is made by hand, subtle variations in colour, pattern and form are natural and form part of its individual character.
